How we use cookies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser; similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in the same way. We use a few that are strictly necessary for our website and app to work, and we use them without asking. Everything else is optional: we use it only if you allow it.

The first time you visit, a cookie bar asks for your choice. You can allow or refuse analytics and advertising separately, and one choice applies across our website, our advertising landing pages and sign-up. If you refuse, or make no choice, no Google tag is loaded and nothing about your visit is sent to Google Analytics or Google Ads. We signal your choice to Google using Google Consent Mode.

Strictly necessary cookies

• ob_consent – records the choice you made in the cookie bar (analytics yes or no, advertising yes or no, and when you chose). It lasts 180 days, after which we ask again.
• ob_signed_in – tells our home page that you are signed in to the app, so it can take you straight to it.
• Payment cookies set by our payment processor, Stripe, when you check out. They authorise transactions, transmit payment information securely and prevent fraud.

Analytics cookies (only if you allow them)

• Google Analytics – _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years. They measure how visitors use our website so we can improve it.
• PostHog – our product analytics (see our Privacy Policy, section 4). On our website and advertising landing pages it keeps its identifier in memory only, for the page you are on, until you allow analytics; then it stores the identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, for up to a year.

Advertising cookies (only if you allow them)

• Google Ads – _gcl_au and _gcl_aw, which last 90 days. They record that you came from one of our adverts, so Google can tell us which adverts lead to accounts, and let Google show our adverts to people who have visited. If you allow advertising, we also keep the Google click identifier and campaign details with your account; our Privacy Policy explains how.

Changing your choice

Use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page to change your choice at any time. Withdrawing consent stops the optional cookies being used from then on; it does not delete ones already stored, which you can remove in your browser's settings. You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies, although parts of our website and app may not work if you block strictly necessary ones.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates.
